We invite young filmmakers to showcase their stories at the East Asian Diaspora International Film Festival, to be hosted at International House at the University of Chicago on April 11, 2025. This festival will celebrate the creativity and voices of student artists exploring themes of identity, migration, and cultural heritage.

The film festival will be hosted by Fire Escape Films and the International House at the University of Chicago.

Eligibility:

• Open to filmmakers worldwide under the age of 30.
• Films must align with the festival theme, "East Asian Diaspora." The creator (director/writer/producer) is of East Asian descent and/or the theme of the film touches upon immigration/diaspora/cross- culture/East Asian culture/etc.
• Preference will be given to filmmakers who can attend the event in person (travel will not be funded).

Submission Guidelines:

• Films must be under 15 minutes in length.
• Submit your film via a private YouTube (as unlisted) or Vimeo link.
• The resolution should be Full HD or 4K.
• Complete the submission form below by 11:59 (CT, UTC-5) 7 March, 2025.

Selection Criteria:

The films will be judged by a committee of UChicago Faculty, Graduate Students in the Cinema and Media Studies department, and non-UChicago affiliated reviewers. The films will be evaluated based on:

• Artistic Expression.
• Adherence to theme.
• Technical Execution.
